Quite often, people struggle to raise the extra cash they need to fund certain projects. Even if they’ve got full-time jobs, some folks seldom have a lot of spare money to put aside for non-essentials.

Getting a second job might seem like a good idea at first. But the major downsides to such an approach are that you have to work more hours each day. And you get heavily taxed on your second income! Of course, there is one way to make extra money.

You might not realize it, but everyone has a lot of valuable items in their homes that they don’t use or need. Even stuff they think is junk can sometimes end up being worth a small fortune!

OK, so you might not make a living out of selling unwanted items in your home. However, it’s a brilliant way to raise some much-needed money for a new project. Intrigued? Keep reading to learn how to find that hidden treasure in your abode!

Electronics

One of the best ways to raise extra cash is by selling your unwanted electronic items. I’m talking about things like video games consoles, cell phones, and other gadgets. Even if you think no-one will want them, I can guarantee you there’ll always be a buyer out there.

It’s worth checking the completed listings on eBay to find out what sort of prices you can get for your unwanted electronics. Sometimes people buy old electronic items for nostalgia reasons. And you know what that means: lots of cash!

Jewelry

Another way of making some extra cash is to sell your unwanted jewelry. Plenty of people have gold and silver jewelry items like rings and necklaces sitting around gathering dust. Sure, some things might get passed down the family from time to time.

But, for other items that you seldom wear, it’s worth selling them and raising the money you need. The best thing to do is get those items appraised by a couple of jewelers. That way, you’ll learn of their true value, and you can decide whether to sell them as they are or as scrap metal.

Just make sure that the items you want to sell belong to you! All too often, some folks sell jewelry that belongs to a family member – and they’ve forgotten that fact!

Medical equipment

Sometimes people have spare medical equipment they don’t need. Examples include things like blood pressure monitors and unused diabetic test strips.

It’s worth researching how to sell such items, as you’re more likely to make more money selling to a medical equipment buyer than the general public.

Books

You might not think it, but there’s plenty of money to get made by selling your old books! Of course, I’m not just talking about your favorite childhood classic. I’m also talking about things like comic books, special editions of magazines and so forth. In fact, any printed matter – especially items that are out of print!

Again, do some research on eBay for potential selling prices. And consider doing an online search to see where else they might get sold.

Clothes

Do you have a room full of unwanted clothes? For less-valuable items, you can sell them to stores that buy clothes by the bag. High-ticket items should get sold to retailers that sell such items.

For example, clothes made in the 1930s should get sold to a vintage clothes store.
