Do you feel like you’ve heard all the usual ways to earn money? You ask how you can make some extra cash, and the answers you get back are all the same: get another job, sell some stuff, start a business. But all of these money-making solutions are boring and somewhat obvious. If it was easy as selling some of your possessions, wouldn’t you have done that already? It’s time to start getting more creative with how you bring in that much-needed money. Why spend your Saturdays working an extra job, when you could be doing things like selling your hair and renting out your parking spot? Try these weird and wonderful ways of making some quick cash.
Look After People’s Stuff
Perhaps this one isn’t very strange, but it is something you might think of teenagers doing more than grown adults. People will always want someone to look after the things they love, whether it’s their kids, their pets or their house. Sure, security cameras are useful for keeping an eye on your house, but they can’t do much if anything happens. And the kind of technology that makes it look likes someone is home is a little out of reach for most. Offer to look babysit, pet sit and house sit to make some money, and sometimes have somewhere to stay too.
Sell Parts of Your Body
The oldest profession in the world might not be legal, but there are other ways to sell your body. Lots of different parts of your body are valuable for medical research. For example, you can sell your plasma and your hair. You might also be able to sell your sperm if you’re a man, or sell your eggs if you’re a woman. Although it will take a lot longer for women to go through the screening process, they can make a lot more money than men can. Donating eggs is a lot more effort, after all. In some places, you can sell your blood or bone marrow too.
Take Part in a Clinical Trial
This is another way of making money that only requires you to turn up (and be suitable for the trial). Scientists need real people to participate in clinical trials to ensure that procedures or medications are effective and safe. Participating in a clinical trial doesn’t necessarily mean having to take an unknown drug. You could be doing any number of things, from testing a new therapy to allowing doctors to catalog the symptoms of a minor illness, such as a cold. The amounts you can earn will vary depending on the length and nature of the trial.
Rent Your Parking Spot
If you own a parking spot that you don’t use, why not put it to better use by renting it out? Someone might as well take advantage of it, and there’s always someone who needs a spot closer to home or work. Rent out your spot on a weekly or monthly basis to start bringing in some extra cash. Or maybe you park your car on your driveway, leaving your garage free. You could rent out your garage too, for parking cars, holding band practice or even running a business.
